Today we did many things in school. Today in language arts all we did was are
First in science we changed our seats spelling packet. We did not do are spelling
quickly. Once we finished we had to fill in pre test today. But finally language arts
are assignment book. Afterwards was over. "SOCIAL STUDIES"! Today in
we went into our body system social studies we learned a lot. First we
groups. Then in math we did talked about explorers, kings, kingdoms,
a lot. First we did our daily math. Egypt, Marco and Polo. Flowing that we
Second we did minute math. talked about how Gutenberg invented
Finally we played math bingo, the printing board. Lastly we talked a
"It was fun". Today in reading little about Christopher Columbus.
We were doing a planning sheet Today in current events we did
a fun to write a letter. The letter will go to project on Armenie which is a fun
an injured soldier. It will pretty much say holiday in December. Then we had to
"Merry Christmas"! silent read forever. Following was yummy snack time. As my day came to
an end I thought "wow, I had a nice day".

Hello!! My name is Alexyss. Today I am the classrooms roving reporter.
Today in science we watched a move called Bill Nye The Science Guy .
It was about our body and the way it works. Also known as our body systems.
We had to write down notes about the movie as it was playing even though we
were going to watch it again. It was about what our body systems do to protect you.
During math time we did something else. We made pumpkin pie.
Also, in language arts we were making pumpkin pie. That pumpkin pie was the best!!!
There were groups and one full pumpkin pie was enough for each person in that group.
In reading, we did our lit circle groups. It was our first meeting too!
I was the person that was in charge of that group. We went over what we wrote in our
job that we were supposed to do. One person in our group did not do it.
He wrote down things that had nothing to do with what his job was. He said “I didn’t know what it was”.
I agreed with him because it had no directions on it.
At 12:00 we had specials. We had art which was very fun today. We made something called value.
I said “It sounds like something in math”. We had to only use black and white. We made 3 shapes and
made circles around it if it was a circle. Whatever shape it was we hade to make the same shape around it.
Making it darker and darker all the way from white. We add a little bit of black in the white each time.
Before specials I had band. We had to practice all the songs that we are doing in our concert on December 3.
We also did jingle bells.
In social studies, we made a paper that had our symbol of our Indian name. We had to make a border with symbols we used on our Indian mask. At the bottom of the paper we made the symbol of our name.

Hello, This is Tara reporting from my house in Lambertville about what goes on in Mrs. Lykowski’s classroom.
First in social studies we’re talking about pilgrims. My group and I were going to do our oral report, but we couldn’t
because my note cards were lost and I got scolded by Mrs. Werth. I felt really awful.
Next is science. We did research on the body systems. I had Cody B. and Cody W. for partners. We were looking
through books and trying to find research about the heart. It was hard but we got through it.
During math time we had brain teaser papers to do. They were pretty hard! Accept I didn’t have time to get one
done because I had to look for my note cards and everybody was staring.
We had math with the two classes because it was a half a day.
Finally there was reading. I read out of my lit circle book Lily’s Crossing. I had to do a picture for the
Imaginative Illustrator. It wasn’t that hard. I actually had fun.
When that was over we got ready to go home. That was quick! This has been Tara reporting. Good night everybody!

The Roving Reporter News
By Alec November 20, 2008
Today's news is about well, what it is always about. So anyways in social
studies we did oral reports. Our report topics were on different American
Indians. Personally I think that they could have made it funnier. My group
was one of the most worried groups. That's all we did in social studies.
{And current events}
After social studies we opened a mysterious box that contained an XO
computer. It was small and every one wanted to touch it. They cost $400.00
and Mrs.Lykowski paid for it with her own money! After that my friend
Eddie said "I have to give the animals water!" This included our classroom
collection of Giant Hissing Cockroaches. That's all for science.
Once we finished that we scooted on down to the media center. We needed
a country book for our upcoming book reports. I chose Spain to do my report
on. Then Derrick who picked Ireland said, "I can't find a world record
book." after that we went to specials. (Today special's is Art)
We painted using small dots to make large pictures. After a good class we
earn stars, and we only need 2 or 3 stars before we can do clay! Today was a
great day and we earned a star! It was soon time to head back to the
classroom. After that we went to lunch.
Then we read in the leveled books which are grouped according to the
book's reading level. For example I worked on Blue which is the highest.
But, if we were in say red group than we could only get the books from that
group. Then we did a worksheet. It was mostly quiet during that time.
After reading we took the big test! It is an all out mega math test! It counts
as a lot of your math grade. It also tells them if you learned every thing you
th
were supposed to have learned compared to other 5 graders across the state
of Michigan.
We ended our day with a nice game of Silent Seat Ball.

At about 10:00 we took notes on our body systems. The body systems that
people could choose were the nervous system, the circulatory system, the
digestive system, the respiratory system, or the muscular/skeletal system.
During math time we had a worksheet on double-digits times double-
digits. 87
X54
4698
In reading class, we reread "This is our World, Too!" It was about
two kids: Justin Lebo and Dwaina Brooks. Justin made bikes for the poor and the
ill. Dwaina made sandwiches for the poor people in the homeless shelter. Then
we had to do a worksheet on the story.
Today for specials we had Gym, and we started our volleyball unit. First,
we learned the setting position. Then we tried to keep the volleyball in the air for
as long as we could. Then we got partnered up and we would toss it to one
person and they would hit it back to us.
During band time I was in band with Julie, Kortney, Brian, Alec, and
Kassidy. We were playing violins and cellos. We played Morning Dance, Rolling
Along (Mary had a Little Lamb), and Good King Wenceslas. Then we did some
bow action too.
In Social Studies we read a USA Studies Weekly about Europeans and
Indians. It was also about the songs of the Kiowa Indian tribe. Then, we had to
do a worksheet with questions and a crossword puzzle.
Finally, we did Current Events. We read a Time For Kids magazine, and
we did a worksheet on it.

In today's science news Deputy Sehl came in to help with DARE, Define-Assess-Respond-
Evaluate. What we learned today was that now Marijuana is used in medicines, but a doctor has to
approve of it. Sehl said "Marijuana is addicting like cigarettes" so stay away from pot!
Next in math there was stamping and grading. Afterwards we did a multiplication worksheet
with large numbers. It was weird because it was multiplication and adding.
During reading we got out our reading books and read It's Our World Too. Justin and Awaina
decided to change the world by giving food to the poor and rebuilding bikes for the poor. I think these
people are really great.
When that was over we hurried to specials! Today we had new songs to learn. The new songs
are for our recorders. We sounded really good when we played It's Raining It's Pouring!
In current events: We went to tech lab and studied the systems in your body. Such as
respiratory system, circulatory system, digestive system, and nervous system. Our bodies are very busy!
And finally, in social studies, we worked hard to complete our Native American projects.
That is all for now, I'm Dillan for MRE Action News Good Night America!

Social Studies: Today is almost the last day to get everything done. We have to complete everything by tomorrow.
We have four things to get done. I’m almost done with everything that we need to get done.
The good thing is we get to use laptops or c. o. w. s. 9:00 - 9:45 am.
Science: Following social studies we have science. We’ve learned about the human body.
We’ve learned about the Respiratory, Circulatory, Digestive, and the Nervous system. Later on this year we will have a project to do.
Science is around 9:45—10:30 am.
Language Arts: In Language Arts we caught up on our work. Kind of like current events.
We all have language arts in the morning. Well around 10:00— 11:05am.
On Monday and Wednesday Language Arts is also band time too.
Current Events: This is where we have a chance to finish work. We tried to finish social studies. We used the laptops in this class too.
Well that’s kind of all we do in current events.
Specials: In specials we walked for ten minutes . We also heard letters from some veterans. I’m glad we wrote to our country's veterans.
We all had a chance to thank them for serving our country. They risked their lives for us, so thank you.
Reading: we read level books today in reading. There was also a paper with a few questions we had to do too. Luckily I got done with it.
Reading starts around 2:00pm. Reading starts after lunch and recess. 2:05—2:55pm.
Math: Math starts at 2:55pm. Math is our last subject of the day. Unless we have little buddy's, then it’s in the morning.
Most of our homework comes from math class. We did a review of times today in Math.
I asked a couple of kids and mammals, What their favorite subject that Mrs. Lykowski teaches?
Oran : said he liked all of them.
Bryan : said that he liked them all too.
Brad : said he liked reading best.
Oreo: no comment.
